I was contacted by Grace who just recently launched her nail polish line called Graceful Polish. She asked if I would be interested in doing a review on YouTube for her and I obviously accepted this great opportunity. She didn't ask me to do a blog post, but I thought it would be nice to do. Come take a look at the swatches after the jump!<br />

First I want to link my YouTube review in case any of you are curious. I do live swatches as well as talk about each polish in depth.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/MtDnA71EQRI?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Before we begin, I need to type a paragraph to tell you something I loooove about these polishes. The consistency of all five of these polishes is right on point. They aren't too thick or too thin; I feel like all polishes should be the consistency of these. It made application an absolute dream. I had hardly any clean up at all because I was able to control the polish so well. That in itself made me fall in love with these polishes. Wear time on these polishes was good as well, I had no issues with quick tip wear or chips. I got five days before I got any chips and I noticed slight tip wear on day four. This is the normal amount of time I typically get from a manicure.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Let's start off with one of my faves, Alcatraz. This is an opaque deep charcoal grey with a heavy shimmer, almost leaning a little metallic. This polish is opaque in almost one coat, but I still suggest two. This is a great fall and winter shade and I think is great for layering glitter or other polishes on top of. Swatches are two coats.<br />
<br />

</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Next up is a lavender purple based polish called Cherry Blossom. This polish has larger magenta and holo hexes as well as some very small teal glitters. This polish is sheer and needs 3 coats to be opaque. A downfall with this polish is that the glitters get covered because you need to add so many coats. While you can get this opaque on it's own, I think this would be better as a layering polish. Still super easy to apply though and the glitters come out of the bottle well!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8YksE5xWpQWmIklEzWHJidd0Cc3efwKVsmPsP_uISME3ii_jykGTNousmU1xBxrSk0XpGeYvcqo1DHtYMuCku_d3Yvl2r9aFQwUpq8wh7PmUm1pPj72YRRuOkpR5L0iqdB_1ZNjLJs0dH/s1600/DSCN2264pm.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8YksE5xWpQWmIklEzWHJidd0Cc3efwKVsmPsP_uISME3ii_jykGTNousmU1xBxrSk0XpGeYvcqo1DHtYMuCku_d3Yvl2r9aFQwUpq8wh7PmUm1pPj72YRRuOkpR5L0iqdB_1ZNjLJs0dH/s1600/DSCN2264pm.jpg" height="400" width="383" /></a></div>

<br /></div>
<div>
Another great fall shade is Golden Gates which is a coppery shimmery metallic. This needs 2-3 coats depending on how thick your coats are. A great thing about this polish (and the rest) is that there are no brush strokes! You can see the strokes in the pictures a little bit, but in real life you don't notice them at all. I think this would make another great base for glitters or other fun polishes. Swatches have three coats.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-size: 12px;">Sorry this coloring in this pic is a little off. I had to use a pic from my phone. The photo below is a better color representation.</span></div>

<br /></div>
<div>
Sunshine State is up next. This has a yellowy golden base with different sizes of green hexes with some holos thrown in. This is the sheerest polish in the collection. Photos have three coats but I honestly think it could have used another. Since it's sheer I think it would be better layered. This isn't my favorite color, but I still think a lot of people will like it. I did notice too I had to fish a little bit to get the larger glitter out, but besides that this was super easy to apply (see top paragraph lol).</div>

<br /></div>
<div>
And of course I've saved the best for last. My friend Big Sur and I are going to be good friends. This one is also on the sheer side and needs three coats, but I love the color. It's a teal leaning green base with lots of silver glitter mixed in. This polish does look great on it's own but I love it even more layered over Alcatraz. Once I layered it I thought the polish had a lot more dimension.<br />

My YouTube channel (Total Polish Junkie, naturally) has kept me really busy and I'm enjoying making videos a lot more than blogging, so I don't know how much I'll do on here anymore, but I do want to attempt to at least do one every once in a while.<br />
<br />
Today I'm bringing you Essie's fall collection called Dress to Kilt. I don't know about you, but I am NOT ready for fall! I feel totally jipped on summer this year, and other than swatching these puppies, I am still going to be rocking the summer manis! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDfPC4X5bR4d7HcGeZ-Pip8ZEg7poz1TWF4AcnFk48H21W7GUTeDiLAyGOUqVy-wQJL9KSD-CN9bpvdGEycQnTtIgVO7IBLZI4D_Lhv92Ha4REDzq9dwt1Y-NO4JGKeNB0MPqEAU_YyJQw/s1600/PicMonkey+Collage2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDfPC4X5bR4d7HcGeZ-Pip8ZEg7poz1TWF4AcnFk48H21W7GUTeDiLAyGOUqVy-wQJL9KSD-CN9bpvdGEycQnTtIgVO7IBLZI4D_Lhv92Ha4REDzq9dwt1Y-NO4JGKeNB0MPqEAU_YyJQw/s1600/PicMonkey+Collage2.jpg" height="360" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
This is a 6 piece creme collection, and since Essie isn't my most go-to brand, I was a little skeptical. HOWEVER! I was put in my place with this collection. I did a live application video for this collection, so if you would rather you can watch the video (linked after the jump)....or you can read on for some pics and color descriptions!<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/RQqm-2djP4I?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<br />
<br />
Before I get into the colors, I must tell you how perfectly perfect these polishes are. Seriously. They are super smooth, glide on effortlessly, and most are one coaters (but I always apply 2). They all have the same formula and consistency, and boy am I happy about that! Finally Essie got a collection right, and man did they get it RIGHT! All photos are 2 coats and no top coat. They dried incredibly fast and are very shiny on their own! On to the awsomeness.....<br />
<br />
<i>Take It Outside</i> is a light beige/taupe/greige color. I personally would call it more taupe, but to each their own. I think this one does best with 2 coats.<br />

<br />
<br />
<i>Fall In Line</i> is a dusty, grey toned green. The green is like a mossy army green. I think this is a very unique color and perfect for fall! You could totally get away with 1 coat with this one. Clean up and removal were a breeze!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhj06TZNvoy0OgAX80sAmY6O0Vih3wlrxO7_hrnPEwji50gz5vz2TZNXcPMI7oIytRJ8bkMChRVwv3cM7m_wWgns0-VkanIj-fAY4yhp238yRJMukwT0AZLRuBvZdTR4w6WO6y6WLA05gDL/s1600/DSCN1767pm.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhj06TZNvoy0OgAX80sAmY6O0Vih3wlrxO7_hrnPEwji50gz5vz2TZNXcPMI7oIytRJ8bkMChRVwv3cM7m_wWgns0-VkanIj-fAY4yhp238yRJMukwT0AZLRuBvZdTR4w6WO6y6WLA05gDL/s1600/DSCN1767pm.jpg" height="370" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<i>The Perfect Cover Up</i> is another unique polish. I would classify this one as a dusty, grey based deep teal color. I love this color and this is my second favorite. Again, this one could be a 1 coater. It's very opaque and such a nice jewel tone!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRmb5lsOziOxB8VbuXH7VJw-ZDxvw_yFJ3yG8xkKIoUzD__CSZpGXemFFNlLdaAzPYz0gV00NJ06nQ7SSq4GAnyTO595X_YtUz0J1GI1oujYed6cQ4jhacUcYK_I6EmEuw9hNZYAxdALem/s1600/DSCN1765pm.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRmb5lsOziOxB8VbuXH7VJw-ZDxvw_yFJ3yG8xkKIoUzD__CSZpGXemFFNlLdaAzPYz0gV00NJ06nQ7SSq4GAnyTO595X_YtUz0J1GI1oujYed6cQ4jhacUcYK_I6EmEuw9hNZYAxdALem/s1600/DSCN1765pm.jpg" height="361" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<i>Partner In Crime</i> is a deep, rich, chocolate brown. I personally am not a fan of this color, but I'm not big on browns. It's dark enough that in most lighting it will look black. But, if you love these types of colors, then you will love this one! Absolutely a 1 coat polish if you want it to be.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgq6rdqRIvVE4BXRWribvK_aU8hrwSlkTmdSyo2UeEMTWcfDh7ui02CydDcd44P5vmpUt3OpPFwCk1QC1X8JZYufXrGoh7u9e38O8N2mUdRmbM6JYfPm2S3aqyo9d6oGmiI3SSR-0F5h3ty/s1600/DSCN1770pm.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgq6rdqRIvVE4BXRWribvK_aU8hrwSlkTmdSyo2UeEMTWcfDh7ui02CydDcd44P5vmpUt3OpPFwCk1QC1X8JZYufXrGoh7u9e38O8N2mUdRmbM6JYfPm2S3aqyo9d6oGmiI3SSR-0F5h3ty/s1600/DSCN1770pm.jpg" height="288" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<i>Dress to Kilt</i> is a very nice tone red. It's more of a deeper cranberry red. Perfect for the holidays! I don't think this is a very unique shade, but if you don't own this color, I would highly recommend this one. I'm not a big fan of red, but I'm really digging this one. This is another 1 coat polish!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEij4KEdRim61GAuO3qy_1wgQGbXuj16D7SGoU0db8OHn7V1D9OUWCyxse4LYqPxdBXEK_sug_qSt-D5IgDbNH7_D8nMMwrQGkYs1IVovmhAFw38nzSvIGIXKhqOIaMLuA1jeERRTXwrVwQ1/s1600/DSCN1772pm.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEij4KEdRim61GAuO3qy_1wgQGbXuj16D7SGoU0db8OHn7V1D9OUWCyxse4LYqPxdBXEK_sug_qSt-D5IgDbNH7_D8nMMwrQGkYs1IVovmhAFw38nzSvIGIXKhqOIaMLuA1jeERRTXwrVwQ1/s1600/DSCN1772pm.jpg" height="346" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<i>Style Cartel</i> is absolutely stunning. Just stunning. Such an intense, deep, navy, ink blue color. Color wise, this is by far my favorite. HOWEVER! This is totally a stainer. :( Wear lots and lots of base coat! If you don't like polishes that stain, then stay far far away from this one. This one is a little streaky with 1 coat, so you do need two for this one.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Overall, as you can tell, I am very much so in love with this collection. The only downfall is the blue stain. I will deal with it because I can tolerate stained nails, but I know that a lot of people won't deal with them. I think this is a very rounded collection with some unique shades! Don't go to Ulta to pay full price for these, instead visit <a href="http://www.nailsupplies.us/" target="_blank">Nail Supplies</a> to get them for $4.25 a bottle. </div>

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I know it's still spring, but I love summer too much and most of my manis are turning into summer ones instead of spring. Oh well! I have a fantastic color to share with you today! China Glaze Highlight of my Summer is a bright, bright, <i>bright </i>mint green color. It's so stunning! This polish glowed on my hands no matter what light I was in and somehow, someway made my hands look tan. Is that even possible?!? Haha. But really though I love this color. I think it would looks amazing on anyone. Since it is a pastel color and kind of a neon, it doesn't have the best formula, but it is workable! I did notice quicker tip wear/chips with this polish too. But man, that color makes up for all of that. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I really didn't need to add anything, but I wanted to add some glitter so I used I'm a Go Glitter. The glitters are beautiful, but it was kind of meh for application. I wish the glitter was a bit denser and I picked up more on my brush in one swipe. But obviously it's workable! </div>

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I absolutely love this mani! It came out so bright, pretty, and different. I really like using dots....so easy to do, so many different looks, and so amazing on the nail! I'm getting into nail art more and more. When I do a "normal" mani I feel so boring, lol. I need some color and life on my nails! I'm also starting to paint my nails more often. For quite a while I was painting them once a week, now I find myself painting them twice a week. I'm getting bored with my polish faster and need a change. Not a bad thing in my opinion, I do have plenty of polish to use!! Onto the polish...</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used OPI Alpine Snow as the white base. For the rest of the mani, I just used a dotting tool. On my ring finger I was trying to create chevron designs, but I don't think it turned out so well. Still looks cute though!</div>

</div>
I have some limited edition Sally Hansen polishes to share today. I found them both at Walmart which is still the only place I have seen them. I had to give them a shout out though because of how awesome the formulas are.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Summerlime (green) has a strong shimmer to it which makes it a very pretty shade all on its own. You need two coats, but they are smooth, easy to apply coats. Very impressive! I'm not always the biggest fan of the Complete Salon Manicure line, but both of these are starting to change my opinion! </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Blue Crush has an even better formula and is a one coater. The formulas are so easy to work with that I hardly had to do any clean up because the polish went exactly where I put it. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I decided to do a different kind of mani with these polishes, using a light pink jelly and a green and blue glitter for some added color. I actually really liked the turn out! It's different, but not so different it looks weird. You really need to go see these polishes for yourself! So pretty. </div>

I have to say I'm getting so much more excited for nail polish now that it's getting warmer out. I can go outside to take pics in the sunlight and I can pull out all of my prettier colors! I like my dark stuff, but I prefer the brights and neons much more. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Nothing too complicated with this mani, just used some glitter on top of Mimosas Before Manis. Good formula on both of these! The China Glaze is such a beautiful color with just a hint of shimmer. I only needed one(ish) coat for the glitter too, pretty happy with the payoff. I love the glitter because it has so many matte pastel colors. It can be paired with so many different colors and still look amazing!</div>

Being sick back at the end of Feb. really threw me off my game. I wasn't taking pics in the right lighting or taking more than one, and then I stopped blogging and now I'm way behind with my manicures. I'm posting a few different ones today just so I can try to catch up. None of these were my favorite, so I just kinda stuck them all together. My next ones coming up look way better in my opinion. So on to the manis!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is SinfulColors Gorgeous with SinfulColors Nail Junkie as accent. I saw a swatch of this color on the internet and thought it was beautiful, but I don't like it very much on me. It was a little too streaky for my taste, and although it did have a nice duochrome that flashed blue and green, I just couldn't get into this polish. Nail Junkie is nice though.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6D2QxJ0DrwabzoVRHEkcM3zNkAypW_UhG4oIFl9VOuvHZ9vgwjZd-CmHqIFi3u6vYAqQncUtFkt6plbdi0Y-nXiswClXAYL4rGdV1opZAKQQgOldp714JsLTnoG01BmaU-4o1HeTrBZf6/s1600/photopm.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6D2QxJ0DrwabzoVRHEkcM3zNkAypW_UhG4oIFl9VOuvHZ9vgwjZd-CmHqIFi3u6vYAqQncUtFkt6plbdi0Y-nXiswClXAYL4rGdV1opZAKQQgOldp714JsLTnoG01BmaU-4o1HeTrBZf6/s1600/photopm.jpg" height="320" width="248" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is obviously another mani I did for St. Patrick's day. I HATE this mani. I thought it was a good concept in my head, but it didn't turn out to be anything good at all. Green base is China Glaze Starboard, on top is Zoya Tomoko which is a neutral gold Pixie Dust (texture). For my accent I used China Glaze The Grass Is Lime Greener and SinfulColors Exotic Green for the Shamrock. There's nothing wrong with the polishes, I just hated how the look turned out.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs1fQhOfr1ktH93mj_eMwPwgvW6EnwxpmXqyRtS-XhrPRvFYtLaBmcPltJ8x7p1pV3Qv6lvSOb5f-i6t9KsLc57WYGrTzvlj6L7ob_2RHlDXXmB75TkvYrauOllS8Xo2NY4XO7ThsUvbC1/s1600/photo+2pm.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs1fQhOfr1ktH93mj_eMwPwgvW6EnwxpmXqyRtS-XhrPRvFYtLaBmcPltJ8x7p1pV3Qv6lvSOb5f-i6t9KsLc57WYGrTzvlj6L7ob_2RHlDXXmB75TkvYrauOllS8Xo2NY4XO7ThsUvbC1/s1600/photo+2pm.jpg" height="292" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
The color didn't turn out right with thic pic. The orange color I used it much more of a truer Crayola orange instead of the red-orange that you see below. The polish is Wet n Wild Cursed which is an orange jelly polish. It really is pretty and has a good formula too. The accent nail is a jelly sandwich using Cursed and the glitter is Formula X for Sephora Meteoric. It's a very dense black and white glitter mix with holo shimmers. I know this kind of looks like a Halloween mani, but oh well!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

I have really been lagging with my blog lately...I don't know why either. I'm so behind with my manicures, I really need to get it together and get them posted! I'm getting much quicker at editing my photos and stuff too, so my posts don't take long...I'm just being lazy. :p</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
On a night I was feeling pretty lazy, I just grabbed some random polishes and told myself I would create a mani with it. These three colors were just sitting on my desk in front of me, so I grabbed them to see what I could do. Turns out, I love this look! The colors are gorgeous and I love the colorful glitter.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
Formula on all the polishes was good. Snowcone is such an amazing blue. It's a lovely shade and one that a lot of people complemented on. The pink is <i>almost </i>too opaque for a jelly sandwich, but I made it work anyway.<br />

When it comes to nail polish, I really shy away from the indie world mainly due to costs. They are more expensive and I can't get deals/use coupons like how I can with mainstream brands. However, I saw this polish and fell in love and I decided I could at least <i>try</i> a few indie polishes. This glitter polish is from KBShimmer and is called Toast-ess With the Mostest. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This polish is a circle glitter bomb! It has teeny tiny glitter and even has some very large silver holo circle glitter. I LOVE the look that it creates on the nail. You do need to use a dabbing motion when you apply this glitter, but it's obviously very densely packed and you really only need one coat. This is still available on their <a href="https://www.kbshimmer.com/shop/toast-ess-with-the-mostest/" target="_blank">website</a> for $8.75. So go check it out!</div>

This collection came out about a month ago, and even though I'm a little late I still thought it would be nice to share this collection. The collection has a total of six shades, but I only purchased four. I thought it would be fun to share my swatches and my opinion of these polishes. Oh, if you didn't know, these are all textured polishes too. Let's take a look and see how these work!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwHZ8uFy0X0Dwx50SvqpS3bAA5uOBb_xegFI-0D_UcXlXXIyLhNqb0-ciBwe7-1ZmWH3Kemksa0SAxz5c1ef0XFpdQjl1NlC1RuRa73e468N2r9_nUwShdiPQBq433rrz9x6Mm4g2a2CgV/s1600/PicMonkey+Collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwHZ8uFy0X0Dwx50SvqpS3bAA5uOBb_xegFI-0D_UcXlXXIyLhNqb0-ciBwe7-1ZmWH3Kemksa0SAxz5c1ef0XFpdQjl1NlC1RuRa73e468N2r9_nUwShdiPQBq433rrz9x6Mm4g2a2CgV/s1600/PicMonkey+Collage.jpg" height="640" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
Tail Me Something is a medium toned purple with a strong silver shimmer. Can we say beautiful? The shimmer is very easy to detect on the nail and gives the texture a lot of dimension. Formula is a little sheer, this swatch has 3 coats. It's not a perfect consistency, but still pretty easy to work with. I didn't apply top coat to any of these polishes either. In my opinion, they are pretty enough without a top coat anyway!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Seahorsin' Around is a blue-green texture with silver and gold shimmer. My camera had a hard time picking up this color. The photos look like just a bright blue, but in real life this polish does have some green in it. It's a stunning shade. This polish was the most opaque and required 2 coats. I also feel like the silver shimmer comes out a lot more than the gold does. </div>
<br />

<br />
Wish on a Starfish is a baby pink with strong gold shimmer. This is easily my favorite, and seems to be a lot of people's favorite. The gold shimmer is so pretty and I love how easy it is to see. This one applied the same as Tail Me Something and required 3 coats.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Teal the Tide Turns is much different than the above three polishes. It has a seafoam green/teal base, but instead of shimmer, this one has greenish/teal glitters. While this polish is still pretty, I much more prefer the shimmery ones. I feel the glitters get a little lost and it's a little hard to see them sparkle. I felt this one was a little harder to apply also. This is one I feel would benefit from a topcoat to help make the glitters sparkle a little more.<br />

I am FINALLY starting to feel better. I got a stomach bug and a really bad cold thing (both with fevers) back to back and spent over a week feeling miserable and a lot of time in bed. I finally felt good enough to do a mani, and I have to say sorry because I was lazy and didn't clean up my photo area so you are getting some photos I took with my iphone. Now that I'm feeling better I'll be cleaning up my office so by my next mani, I can have some *real* photos for you. Enough rambling about that....onto the post.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I am really starting to realize how much I love green nail polish. Lately, it seems that's all I keep grabbing and putting on my nails. But with St. Patrick's Day coming up, I thought using some green would be appropriate. I have another mani in mind already too. I thought the gold glitter would look good with the darker green, but now I wish I had put it on the lighter green because I think it would have had more of a contrast. I LOVE the shade of the darker green and it had a pretty nice formula. It's a little crelly like, but it built nicely. The lighter green though is a little streaky and takes a little bit of effort to even it out. For my glitter placement I pulled out gold glitter from a mix with holographic glitter, so some of the gold has those glitters stuck to it too. It was nice using big glitters because it was easy to place and didn't take a lot of time (but I still had to do some glitter fishing!). I think this is a nice, clean, mani.</div>

I have so much polish and when I wear just one color I like to try one I haven't tried yet. HOWEVER....I absolutely love this polish and this is the second time this year I've worn this color. The formula is amazing, it's a stunning shade, and it glows on your nails. Yes, glows. In dim lighting it turns into a mauve color and looks even better. I think it's the most stunning foil polish that I own. I really feel this is a must have shade for any nail polish lover. Aaaaand you can get it on <a href="http://head2toebeauty.com/nail_polishes/npo_china_glaze2.htm" target="_blank">Head2ToeBeauty</a> (right now it's towards the bottom of page 2) for only $3.25. So go get it! Okay, I've typed enough, so let's take a moment to look at the awesomeness of this polish.<br />

I've wanted to do this post for a while, but I wanted to wait till I had everything organized the way I wanted. It took some time, but it's finally pretty and organized. Hopefully this will help give you some of your own polish organization ideas. This is going to be pretty picture heavy, but I really want to show you everything that I'm using and how I have it set up. So let's take a look!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhbAfKzXvXBUl3dRZSdb8phpqVkmh5AvBUJqnhoNviQ0buazklVyK2_9WT6z1SBqxhYv-rq0xIGIRwaGxKCAYIKT-x9ZLg0JVLLF-rDn-v4CRJZwMS-CjF3tQbqeQAwIRo6IMprcdotoct/s1600/Image1pm.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhbAfKzXvXBUl3dRZSdb8phpqVkmh5AvBUJqnhoNviQ0buazklVyK2_9WT6z1SBqxhYv-rq0xIGIRwaGxKCAYIKT-x9ZLg0JVLLF-rDn-v4CRJZwMS-CjF3tQbqeQAwIRo6IMprcdotoct/s1600/Image1pm.jpg" height="245" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<a name='more'></a>First up is the rack on my wall. This is made out of foam board, hot glue, and duct tape. The tape is optional, but I think it looks a lot nicer. I found a tutorial on YouTube showing me how to make it. It was pretty simple! It's been hanging on my wall for 8 months now and I haven't had any issues with the integrity of the rack at all. I labeled the pic showing you what I have where (and I've labeled all the other pics too).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMF-4vHaAzJd3eLV62AI4Fo3A1M0sFlBOk1X9KYHR3HNnp4hZkxkkTPHEe7A4CGLBx-vxCdzyKX5-QFNR7uF_fsvGM5assjnzj4lMZATHKqZEKScFDSz0JvjJXj4d0IrLhQz1VuQnjX1FN/s1600/DSCN0398pm.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMF-4vHaAzJd3eLV62AI4Fo3A1M0sFlBOk1X9KYHR3HNnp4hZkxkkTPHEe7A4CGLBx-vxCdzyKX5-QFNR7uF_fsvGM5assjnzj4lMZATHKqZEKScFDSz0JvjJXj4d0IrLhQz1VuQnjX1FN/s1600/DSCN0398pm.jpg" height="400" width="281" /></a></div>
<br />
This counter top rack I found on <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Nail-Polish-Table-Display-Bottles/dp/B004W8XLAM/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1392950317&sr=8-3&keywords=nail+polish+rack" target="_blank">Amazon</a> for a pretty good price. It holds 60 OPIs (or more if your bottles are smaller). I love this rack and love how clean and organized it looks.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwfTxtX-gqqrxBNIA_k5vamXYP7kBoZnUOEoTtKqrlPHACpz2JjPAdYEWcZ-hwxm5UZ6nb3wzx70ZwSd5rDXjCdIaVeIcpAKgp7Wlp32bcEdef9h9jTy8MJy8ea-iGshHhA6I8-nRjjnA4/s1600/DSCN0399pm.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwfTxtX-gqqrxBNIA_k5vamXYP7kBoZnUOEoTtKqrlPHACpz2JjPAdYEWcZ-hwxm5UZ6nb3wzx70ZwSd5rDXjCdIaVeIcpAKgp7Wlp32bcEdef9h9jTy8MJy8ea-iGshHhA6I8-nRjjnA4/s1600/DSCN0399pm.jpg" height="281" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
This is my "Melmer" that sits on the floor underneath my polish rack. A Melmer is a widely known thing in the nail polish world. You can buy this little drawer set at Michael's. I think it's around $40, but it's on sale a lot or you can find coupons easily to get it for much cheaper. This got it's nickname because it's similar to a Helmer from Ikea, but this is smaller and found at Michael's, hence the name. I'm not sure what it's real "name" is, but it's the Recollections brand and you can find it in the organization section there. The three pictures below show what I have in each drawer.<br />

I was thinking about making another foam board rack, but because my husband is amazing with woodworking, he volunteered (okay, it took a little coaxing, but not much) to make me one out of wood! If all goes to plan he will be starting on it this weekend, and it's going to be pink! Yay! I'm very very excited. :)<br />

I found this drawer cart at Big Lots for $25. I don't know how often they get them in, but it was a good deal! I've seen these at office supply or craft stores, but they are usually $50+. I found a similar one on <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Seville-Drawer-Multi-Color-Cart/dp/B008O0LKLG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1392951017&sr=8-3&keywords=10+drawer+rolling+cart" target="_blank">Amazon</a>, but it is more expensive. I mainly use the top five drawers and the rest I use for storage and boring stuff. I took some photos to show you the exciting stuff that I store in here.<a href="https://www.blogger.com/"></a><br />

<br />
One of my drawers houses all of my swatch sticks. I love that I have all my colors organized this way. Since I have the actual bottles stored by brand I tend to forget what colors I have. This way, all the colors are organized together and then when I'm searching for a green polish, I just pull out my green swatch group and I can pick what color I want. They are all organized from lightest to darkest. I also have my glitters and different types of polishes (like textures) in their own group.<br />
<br />

<br />
I got my swatch sticks off of <a href="http://www.ebay.com/itm/190890626753?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649" target="_blank">Ebay</a>. They came with 150 for $9.99. They do come with a screw to put it on, but they hardly fit, and I wanted more categories so I bought some extra screws for a couple bucks at Lowe's. Now I can have as many different categories as I want and make it a lot easier to handle and manage.<br />

I wanted this to have lots of red and of course glitter! Simple nail art, but still looks adorable! I got my inspiration from <a href="http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCT8z80a4ESgO2Y4qajk-iXw" target="_blank">cutepolish</a> on YouTube. I'm using two of her designs and just added coordinating colors. I used a striper and dotting tool to create the xoxo on my thumb, and a smaller dotting tool to create the lips on my ring finger. You can go check out her channel for some really neat designs!<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I got a little lazy with my Cinderella hand...I've done so many manicures and swatches this week and it's made me a little polished out (I bet you didn't think that could happen, huh?) so I just did some glitter nails. Nothing fancy, but my hands go together so it's fine. </div>
<div>

<div>
Not a super long post, I just wanted to share what I did!<br />

One I did on myself and one I did on a friend. I like how they both turned out, and it gave me a lot of practice making hearts! Making hearts is fairly easy, but does take some practice finding the proper spacing and I did have to do some touch up so the lines look straight.<br />
Let's take a look at what I did!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLXgEXhKJ1GKxh2jHXh_16ahHbyPDaARGIN9IDfjxnJ_2BDQxiv18ii7dFPnnM0l9IoFq9SxG88hSR5TqX_AWnv3SB6dNBeYNTbtBHDsj0Gyq5wQYM83PqkKPI7QPOm9GdM1BVp0TDbO7b/s1600/DSCN0481pm.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLXgEXhKJ1GKxh2jHXh_16ahHbyPDaARGIN9IDfjxnJ_2BDQxiv18ii7dFPnnM0l9IoFq9SxG88hSR5TqX_AWnv3SB6dNBeYNTbtBHDsj0Gyq5wQYM83PqkKPI7QPOm9GdM1BVp0TDbO7b/s1600/DSCN0481pm.jpg" height="263" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I decided to use gold as my accent because Wish on a Starfish has a strong gold shimmer, so it pairs nicely. I think though that maybe a more neutral toned gold would have been better though, the one I used is a yellow gold. Wish on a Starfish is also a textured polish, but you can see that pretty clearly in the photo. I really love this shade and I like how much texture you get from this polish. It feels rough, but not scratchy. For my hearts I used a light pink crelly (OPI).<br />
<br />
All you need to make a heart is a dotting tool. You put two dots next to each other to make the top and then just basically drag down each dot (with more polish) at an angle to make the point. I totally forgot to take pics or else I would have shown you.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvgY-KseY7-fbJOdEEyODInJgWZZCErPnmknfSZp_wSvmWIT5C1Jdw3cOM4MN3h0kqbIZj9Q9y3I6qfySL4UjG2yrGfinNbvk2lORjxIvM8thf_8Kp5lmRfQFhBjejnI6V21kZk97eVd3B/s1600/DSCN0472pm2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvgY-KseY7-fbJOdEEyODInJgWZZCErPnmknfSZp_wSvmWIT5C1Jdw3cOM4MN3h0kqbIZj9Q9y3I6qfySL4UjG2yrGfinNbvk2lORjxIvM8thf_8Kp5lmRfQFhBjejnI6V21kZk97eVd3B/s1600/DSCN0472pm2.jpg" height="320" width="289" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And just because I wanted to use this heart filter....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAWqABpQne4GFNEa0miQ7IZVLJL2htdVcaMKRowSLujxUzzdz1QJ0NNq1IM9T-8lx_cpy7_x8hHs06gMyF4302sb3sea11-_tM84vA_ROMbOTZ7dQhIbueFSlOJd_zXnB__yVP2KPhyphenhyphenQXz/s1600/DSCN0478pm.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAWqABpQne4GFNEa0miQ7IZVLJL2htdVcaMKRowSLujxUzzdz1QJ0NNq1IM9T-8lx_cpy7_x8hHs06gMyF4302sb3sea11-_tM84vA_ROMbOTZ7dQhIbueFSlOJd_zXnB__yVP2KPhyphenhyphenQXz/s1600/DSCN0478pm.jpg" height="264" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
For the other manicure we used a lot of different polishes. I didn't take a bottle shot pic, but let me know if you want to know what any of the polishes are. It's pretty obvious what I did, but I'll list the details just in case you are wondering. I was just kind of experimenting with different things, but I like the end result. I think next time though I would incorporate silver on another nail.<br />
<br />
Pointer: White base, pink and red splatter<br />
Middle: Jelly sandwich with a purply/pink jelly and holo dense glitter<br />
Ring: Silver metallic satin finish<br />
Pinky: White base, pink hearts<br />
Thumb: Light pink base, red heart<br />

It took some time, and made a huge mess (which you can see) but it actually turned out pretty good!<br />
<div>
<br />
I seem to be on a purple and green kick...I need to change that and do other colors, but regardless I love this color combo. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhO2rlNaw7h22IjiCEUCwnfyDFZ-Rom63taf7kJ-CZ9QGlm3UTcrpN8C13Roi3pG6VvxQPYEohhtQARelrg8UMRSL0lf4d5ub9TGfzRtX6F6-LcVAJnwVRfxG4bb1pstQ3M5pKG4Lyg1tWw/s1600/DSCN0362pm.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhO2rlNaw7h22IjiCEUCwnfyDFZ-Rom63taf7kJ-CZ9QGlm3UTcrpN8C13Roi3pG6VvxQPYEohhtQARelrg8UMRSL0lf4d5ub9TGfzRtX6F6-LcVAJnwVRfxG4bb1pstQ3M5pKG4Lyg1tWw/s1600/DSCN0362pm.jpg" height="640" width="457" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">I would really suggest laying down either newspaper or lots of paper towels. I even got it on my poster board way past my paper towels. The polish tends to fly all over the place! I used coffee stirrer straws and cut one into 3 pieces (you can see them in the photo above). For me they ended up being a little too short so next time I'll only cut two per straw. I'm glad I used smaller straws, I don't think regular straws would work well at all. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">So after painting my base color (blue) and letting it dry I dipped each straw into my splatter colors (green, purple, black). I only did one color at a time and one hand at a time. Then you just blow the polish onto your nails, but the polish ends up going almost everywhere but over your nails, haha. I had to do 2-4 dips per nail per color. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>

<div>
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">I forgot to take a pic with my tape on, but you want to make sure you cover your cuticles and around your nail with tape. It saves so much clean up time, and as you can see in the photo, you still end up with polish to clean up anyway. I don't have top coat on yet either, I took this pic right after I took my tape off. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">After cleanup, you let it dry for about 10-15 minutes and then apply topcoat and you're done!! It looks so cool and each nail is different. I did some polka dots for a couple nails so I wouldn't have to do splatter on all my nails to save time. If you want to try it, but don't want to spend a lot of time on it, then just do an accent nail! I think that would look awesome too. Maybe pinks and reds for Valentine's Day??? That sounds pretty, I may try it! </span></div>

I'm here to tell you that this doesn't have to be the case.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Using acetone, polish, filing, etc. is very drying and damaging to your nails and can cause a lot of issues and in effect, ruin your nails. That's why it's so important to take the necessary steps and time to care for yours nails so that doesn't happen. I've been painting my nails consistently for almost a year now and my nails are the strongest and healthiest they have ever been. I thought I would share some products I've used and what's worked for me.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b><i>Hydrate. Hydrate. Hydrate.</i> </b>Use lotions and cuticle balms/oils like there is no tomorrow. There are a million of them out on the market and you will need to find one that works for you. Two products I feel are just okay and will not be repurchasing is Julep's Essential Cuticle Oil and Sally Hansen Cuticle Eraser + Balm. The oil is pricey (luckily I got mine for only a few dollars) and I don't think it's any better than any other, more inexpensive oils. The balm isn't that hydrating for me and there are better products on the market. I have heard amazing things about Essie Apricot Oil and I'd like to try that one next. Lush's Lemony Flutter is awesome. It is expensive, but it's hand made with natural ingredients; not to mention that it will last for a very long time. It's incredibly hydrating and smells good too. The only complaint I have is it's a little greasy, but I can deal. The Burt's Bee's Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream is good too. I haven't found any miracle hand lotion, and really find that just applying any lotion to your hands and cuticles helps a lot. I just grab any lotion I have lying around and hydrate my hands sometimes multiple times a day.<br />

<b><i>Treatments.</i></b> It's important to use some type of treatment(s) to your nails. There are lots of different types out there for different problems, and by no means do you need to use all of them. Are your nails dry? Peeling? Thin and weak? Different treatments are made for different uses, so make sure you do some research on what you need. My nails are strong, but can get dry and brittle. I most often use Essie's Feed Me which is a hydration treatment. I was lucky enough to find mine cheaper at TJMaxx, and I will absolutely be repurchasing this. It has helped with my splitting tips and overall drying to my nails. Essie has stopped making this treatment, but you can still find it on Ebay and Amazon. I also use a strengthening treatment and currently I am using Sally Hansen Diamond Strength and while I like this product I think I will try a different one next time. I always use a treatment, then a base coat, and then my polish. These things are made to help protect your nails, so use them!<br />

<b><i>Cuticle care.</i> </b>I already mentioned some products for hydrating, but there are other things that need to be done to your cuticles. Pushing back your cuticles is a must. I use a manicure stick and the Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover. This stuff really does work great and while it doesn't remove all your cuticles, it does help tremendously. About once a week I have a routine that I do. I push my cuticles back, use nail buffers to lightly buff my nails and use a hand scrub. Sometimes I'll do my scrub more, just depends on how much I've been beating up my nails. The H20 Plus hand and cuticle scrub is awesome. I found mine at TJMaxx, but if I'm not able to find it there I think I might fork over the money for more. It makes my hands so soft. There are DIY scrubs that I've found online too, I may give one of those a go.<br />

<b><br /></b>
<b><br /></b>
<b>Some other tips...</b></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>File your nails with polish still on.</b> Not only does this help see the shape better while you are filing, but it will help your nails from splitting. Filing instead of cutting with clippers helps with splitting also. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Never ever cut your cuticles.</b> Unless you are a pro I highly suggest only pushing back your cuticles. Cutting them doesn't look good and it makes your cuticles grow back thicker.<br />

<br />
I liked Aisha a lot more in the bottle than I did on my nails. It was pretty, but I grew tired of the color quickly. I only had this mani on for 2 days. Formula was thick, it applied evenly, but you had to make sure you had a lot of polish on your brush or it turned a little streaky.<br />
<br />
I wanted to just use the Julep color, but it was boring so I needed to add something. NYC Top of the Gold is a really pretty gold flake glitter. It's a dupe for Zoya Maria-Luisa. The glitter is dense and I only used one generous coat on my nails. I like the look it created!<br />

I've been swatching like a mad man just so I can take pictures! I know, I'm not normal....but who is?<br />
<br />
Anyway, I wanted a mani with some color due to all my holiday/muted colors I've been using lately. What better way to do this than with green and purple?<br />
<br />
Gaga For Green is such an awesome green tone, not too dark, not too light. The formula is a bit on the sheer side, but it built nicely, formula was nice and it dried so shiny! This pic has no top coat, I think it looks awesome!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
Of course leaving my nails just a solid color would be boring, so I added LA Girl Sputter on top. Sputter is a purple and white glitter mix, and it's hard to tell in the photo, but the purple glitter has a metallic looking finish to it. The glitter is a little sparse in the bottle and you definitely need to do the "dab" motion with this, but I like the result I got.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3LimjP1K6_GMRUJzkfD7BRM5jQg9Pk-DCd9lS1__Nbq4Z2XXuU8mfO0-mr_Nfc8RUuKWL4nvKXmFRg0D1XnFhxpyk038yTFeA36iNry2C7WUd3wbava0hc-4MTmBy_03AG0aHqQJtV-tL/s1600/DSCN0157pm.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3LimjP1K6_GMRUJzkfD7BRM5jQg9Pk-DCd9lS1__Nbq4Z2XXuU8mfO0-mr_Nfc8RUuKWL4nvKXmFRg0D1XnFhxpyk038yTFeA36iNry2C7WUd3wbava0hc-4MTmBy_03AG0aHqQJtV-tL/s1600/DSCN0157pm.jpg" height="538" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Also with my camera craze, I've been taking lots of macro shots. I wasn't going to put this pic in because you can see all the air bubbles in my top coat that I could <u style="font-style: italic;">not</u> see normally, but you can see the finish the purple glitter has. I thought these glitters were awesome (I bought 6) and the finishes they have are pretty unique. I found the LA Girl Splatter polishes at Rite Aid for $2.99 a bottle. Lots of really pretty colors!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjRDL4jnpGzXPv8DsdiCLTKEgwBKOZDhdGdlKTwJ-rrYNjcUuqBc5m1Mg1zZzQt2wVDVhPdvv7C0PlqZwcmKNr5I8cfTPcqBxuNdzRPczlO_qjDqjxrHeZ9sHNQn7uA1tbLs5zr-Eo9OI6/s1600/DSCN0160pm.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjRDL4jnpGzXPv8DsdiCLTKEgwBKOZDhdGdlKTwJ-rrYNjcUuqBc5m1Mg1zZzQt2wVDVhPdvv7C0PlqZwcmKNr5I8cfTPcqBxuNdzRPczlO_qjDqjxrHeZ9sHNQn7uA1tbLs5zr-Eo9OI6/s1600/DSCN0160pm.jpg" height="320" width="226" /></a></div>
<br />
Still trying to figure out how to make my bottle shots brighter....even after editing they are still darker than I would like. A work in progress!<br />

Some colors looked promising, and others I felt were pretty blah and nothing spectacular. Although I didn't like the higher price tag, I thought I would pick one up to see how I liked it. The polish I bought is called Sparks Fly. This polish has a blue base with muli-sized silver glitters. Since this is a glitter polish, my review may not be fair to the whole line, but a glitter polish should still have a good formula. Unfortunately though, all I can say about this polish is yuck. Didn't like the formula, size, packaging or price. I layered this polish over OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls. Lots of pics and my review after the jump!<br />

<b>Packaging.</b> There is a lid that you have to take off before you untwist the cap to use the polish. I don't like it when companies do this because I feel like it's a waste of packaging. This bottle is really tall and only has .34 fl oz of product, and the size of the bottle is deceiving to me. While the bottle isn't as wide or deep as an OPI bottle, you can see in the picture that it's just as tall. To me, the bottle looks like you are getting a lot more product than what you really are. The brush reminds me of the Insta-Dri ones, the wand is really big and it's hard to get the brush in the bottle. I really don't know why they keep using that design.<br />

<b>Price and product amount.</b> First off, I want to say that I think most (not all) drugstore brands are very overpriced which is why I am very selective at the drugstore when it comes to polish. Many drugstore brands are not a full size polish (.5 fl oz) but still have a price tag of anywhere from $4-$9. Higher brands such as OPI don't seem nearly as expensive when you compare how much per oz you are spending. The Sally Hansen Triple Shine is retailing for $4.50-$5.00 depending on where you buy it. I bought mine at Target for $4.59. It's not quite as high as some other drugstore polishes, but I still think it's on the higher side.<br />
<br />
<b>Formula.</b> Thick, unforgiving, uneven, and it didn't self level. It was hard to apply and impossible to get even. You can see on my nails how it's a darker blue (thicker) on some spots and other spots it's a lighter blue (thinner). I have read a few reviews where people liked this product, maybe I got a bad bottle? I don't know. Either case, I haven't picked up any others yet and I honestly don't know if I will. I've only worn it one time, maybe I'll try again with really thin coats and see if that helps.<br />

This was one of those manicures where I couldn't stop looking at my nails! The red is OPI Underneath the Mistletoe and the glitter is OPI My Favorite Ornament. This picture does neither polish justice. The red is so sparkly and such a pretty red shade, I'm really glad I picked it up. :) The formula is a little bit thicker than I like, but not horrible. The first coat is kinda patchy, but it built nicely with the second coat. I had no problems with the glitter either. I'm normally not a red polish fan, but I really think this one is gorgeous!<br />

Gave me perfect reason to do the manicure I did. Pretty happy with how it turned out. I am in LOVE with my ring finger and think I'll be using that design a lot more often. It creates such a cool pattern on your nails!<br />
<br />
I used Essie's Parka Perfect as my base. In the bottle this color is so pretty, a muted greyish blue with a hint of silver shimmer, but I'm not such a fan of this color on my nails. The formula was pretty hit or miss. Sometimes it went on thin and sometimes it went on thick and gloopy. It did eventually self level, but it took time and needed a little extra work while applying. The shimmer didn't come through at all, and I really wanted it to have that snow glisten effect, so I used Essie Pure Pearlfection (an effect top coat to add a sparkly iridescent shimmer). It's such a pretty effect! I think this would look so awesome over so many different colors.<br />
<br />
On my middle finger I used a black nail art pen and drew a snowflake. I could not, for the life of me, draw a snowflake using my left hand, so I don't have one on my right hand. :( Oh well. I used 6 pieces of striping tape to create the cross pattern on my ring finger. *drool* I used Zoya Pixie Dust London for the grey. The Pixie Dust line is their version of a textured polish. Using the texture on top gave it so much more dimension. It almost looks like I have an embossed nail. <br />
<br />
I finally am able to use my light box, but it's not as easy as I was hoping it would be. I still have to play around with the lighting a lot. I do have a lot less glare, but I don't have as much light either. Nothing will compare to taking pics outside, but I'm hoping I can get it figured out enough to have decent looking pictures.<br />

I realized the three I purchased are great New Year's colors, so I thought I'd try them together. I really like how this manicure turned out and it was so simple! I will absolutely be doing this twist on a french manicure again with lots of color combos! To create the V shape I just used tape. It's that easy!<br />
<br />
The Gwen Stefani collection consists of 7 polishes. Some of the shades I felt were nothing to write home about, so I only picked up 3. The ones I did not purchases were <b>In True Stefani Fashion </b>(a silver and holographic glitter that I <i>almost</i> bought), <b>I Sing In Color </b>(dark vampy red creme that I already own), <b>Hey Baby </b>(bright pink creme), and <b>Over & Over A-Gwen</b> (her signature red).<br />
<br />
The 3 I purchased are <b>Love.Angel.Music.Baby</b> (gold satin), <b>4 in the Morning </b>(black satin), and <b>Push and Shove</b> (silver chrome). I love the sleeve they put on the caps too, easily labeled and cute geometric shapes.<br />
<br />

<br />
Love.Angel.Music.Baby is my favorite of the 3, and I really really really think this polish is beautiful. I love the satin finish, it's not as flat looking as a matte finish and the sparkle still peeks through. If you add a top coat though, it turns super sparkly and I really like how that looks too. In the pic my pointer and middle fingers have top coat. Formula on this polish was awesome too! It could be a one coater, but I always use two. Very easy to apply and a touch on the thicker side which I like.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />

<br />
4 in the Morning is also a satin finish. There is a soft silver shimmer running throughout, but without top coat it looks pretty flat. However, it's not nearly as dark as a regular black matte which gives it some dimension. Again, I love the satin, it's a nice soft glowy finish. BUT, holy wow, does that silver come through when there is a top coat. Inside lighting it's harder to see, but outside, it's gorgeous. The bottom photo has top coat on both polishes. Formula on this was a bit thinner. First coat is somewhat patchy, but second coat fills nicely. Also, it's pretty easy to apply.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Lastly, is the silver chrome polish that was a *secret* until it was actually released. I was hoping for some amazing polish I've never seen before, but sadly that was not the case. Having said that though, I haven't had the opportunity to buy any polishes like that so I thought I would give it a try. It comes with a little bottle of base coat called Lay Down That Base. I haven't used it yet with that base coat, so I don't know if you <i>have </i>to use that one, or if you can use any base coat. I've only swatched this polish and used it as my accent, so I can't tell you a whole lot about it. What I can tell you is that it's very streaky (disappointing) and is a little tricky to apply. It's also a lot thinner, and as the package implies, it's not meant for long wear. It does chip very easily and obviously you aren't supposed to use a top coat, or this polish is pointless. Adding a top coat turns this into a silver metallic instead of a chrome finish. It really does have a mirror like finish and looks really cool. Although it's kind of a pain, I think it's a pretty cool polish to have. I really want to do a whole mani with this color and see the reflections I can get from my nails!<br />

They either aren't turning out very pretty or they are just getting messed up. Initially for this manicure I wanted to do Christmas trees and presents. The presents didn't turn out very well at all and then this happened...<br />
<div>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-Vej-P0QGeqII7IRRU_uf-9ccWhvqjhsCQtnmtiLMe16aPbWnOsSOA22BdMWQpDtx2frNVk4bK-eVVaqJPGsrGG6-Zn6Q1EoMDPUYG4Lpl50A3j2RGjWTGt6WhpwQVlQjamg1QQLYl6cM/s1600/PIC_0521.jpgpm2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-Vej-P0QGeqII7IRRU_uf-9ccWhvqjhsCQtnmtiLMe16aPbWnOsSOA22BdMWQpDtx2frNVk4bK-eVVaqJPGsrGG6-Zn6Q1EoMDPUYG4Lpl50A3j2RGjWTGt6WhpwQVlQjamg1QQLYl6cM/s640/PIC_0521.jpgpm2.jpg" height="316" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Sorry for the poor image quality!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
I didn't feel like fixing that finger so instead I decided to take off my presents and try something else. On my right hand I ended up doing more Christmas trees and my left I did stripes. My left hand turned out okay, but because I had to let my nails dry before top coat I ended up smudging a couple fingers. I went back and fixed the smudges, but it still looked better before.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPhRLJXHRMxegq9Nh-A9IVtDDibqoRPoVodJgGGGax_W79axeM1UiM39eIA2InQF0ieI3beHd7-dFe-cvKJj9cvvQfrzEvndnueYDc-d1iHBMfVMOg8LNHKB2_dSG1h9IM2SruaUBZhOb4/s1600/PIC_0545pm4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPhRLJXHRMxegq9Nh-A9IVtDDibqoRPoVodJgGGGax_W79axeM1UiM39eIA2InQF0ieI3beHd7-dFe-cvKJj9cvvQfrzEvndnueYDc-d1iHBMfVMOg8LNHKB2_dSG1h9IM2SruaUBZhOb4/s640/PIC_0545pm4.jpg" height="524" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
The stripes ended up pretty bad too. I have never free handed stripes before, and it was hard! Ty gave me a few pointers to help get straight lines, so I'm hoping with some practice I'll start to have better lines. You really need a steady hand to get good, straight lines. What really disappointed me was my top coat. I've really been enjoying my Butter London top coat, but had never used it for nail art before. It dragged my polish. :( I even let my stripes dry overnight before I applied my top coat, and you can see in my pointer and pinkey that it dragged some of the red.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But, having said all that, I'm really happy with how the Christmas trees with lights turned out!! I think the glitter really looks like twinkling lights on a tree. Pretty easy to make too, just drew a green triangle on my nail and used a white striper to add the stripes, and then a dotting tool to apply my glitter. Then I used a smaller dotting tool to grab and apply my rhinestone at the top.</div>

I obviously used a different polish on each finger and combined some gold to try to tie it altogether. Even though the gold on my thumb and pointer look the same, they are different polishes. The gradient doesn't show the differences very well.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I need to work on my glitter gradients. Doing a gradient with a creme polish is easy because it's blendable, but it's harder to blend a glitter polish. Some of the formulas were a little meh, but they were still all workable. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Colors I used:<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Thumb</b>: SinfulShine Amazonian (green) and OPI My Favorite Ornament (champagne gold glitter - this one is so pretty and such a unique neutral gold shade)</div>
<div>
<b>Pointer</b>: OPI Underneath the Mistletoe (red) and Sephora by OPI Looks Like Rain, Dear (gold glitter with holographic circle glitter)<br />
<b>Middle</b>: OPI Liquid Sand Stay the Night (black base with red glitter) I did use a top coat with this as well.<br />
<b>Ring</b>: Sephora by OPI Keep Me on My Mistletoes (neutral gold metallic) with SinfulColors Holiday Rebel (green/red/holo glitter)<br />
<b>Pinky</b>: China Glaze Winter Holly (green microglitter with some gold glitter)</div>
<div>
<br />
It didn't turn out quite as pretty as I had hoped, but I still like the color combos. My next mani will have some nail art!<br />
